Training of Trainers for Communication for Development (C4D)
University of Public Health Yangon (UPH) and UNICEF jointly conducted “Training of Trainers on Communication for Development (C4D)” from 9th to 14th March, 2015. The formal opening ceremony of training was done in Summit Parkview hotel, Yangon. Rector of UPH, Professor Nay Soe Maung gave welcome remarks to participants and explained on “Introduction of the course and overview of C4D, Institutional Capacity Building Partnership”. Then Mr. Aaron Greenberg, acting deputy representative of UNICEF, Myanmar gave opening remark. Then business sessions were continued in conference room of UPH. The trainees were from various departments of government sector as well as from local and international NGOs, 6 from UPH, 7 from department of Health, 13 from UNICEF, 2 from Ministry of Education, 2 from Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, 2 from Ministry of Information, 1 from Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association and 2 from Ratana Metta, a community based organization. The resource persons were Dr. Peter F. Chen, Executive Director and Ms. Emily Samuel, C4D Specialist from Asia Pacific Development and Communication Centre (ADCC). Since this was a Training of Trainers Workshop, the design of the workshop took into account sharing and sharpening participants’ training skills as well as enabled participants to learn about or refresh their knowledge, concepts and practices of C4D. Towards this end, the training was very interactive and participatory. Participants learned from each other as well as from the Resource Persons.

Translational Research Methodology Basic Course II conducted on 23-27 February 2015 at University of Public Health, Yangon in collaboration with Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), National University of Singapore. The course led by Prof. Chia Kee Seng from SSHSPH.
